Ingredients:
- 500gms bi-carb soda
- 160gms citric acid
- 5-6 dessert spoons sweet almond oil or another lovely vegetable oil
- Essential oil and colour as desired
- Spray bottle filled with water
Instructions:
- Place the Bi-Carb Soda and citric acid into a bowl and combine well with a fork
- Add the oil and continue combining. If consistency is too dry add a little water from the spray bottle – the mist will reduce the chances of frothing
- Once the mixture is damp enough to leave an impression with pressed down with a fork, place into moulds (IKEA heart shaped & star shaped ice cube trays and silicon mini muffin trays are perfect)
- Essential oils and colour can be added at this stage
- Leave in the moulds until almost completely dry then turn out onto a tray
- If you find your bath bombs are sticking in the mould, chances are you may have too much water in them. Lightly dust the inside of the mould with baking soda and pack a new bomb in again
- If you find your bombs are crumbling, you probably need to add a little bit more oil first and mix well. If the mixture still isn’t coming together add one or two mists of water and mix well again. Be careful not to over mist as they will froth up
Variations:
- You can put a little bit of pot pourri in the mixture and in the bottom of the mould (results are like the picture at the top)
- You can also add cocoa instead of essential oil and colour to make a chocolate bath bomb
- You can create multi-coloured bath bombs by layering different coloured mixtures
