Items Required:

• Cheap round pencils
• Glossy wrapping paper (2 coordinating colours)
• Double sided tape
• Paper trimmer
• Scissors
• Ruler (optional)
• Bone folder (or other scoring tool)
• 1  1/4″ circle punch
• 1  1/2″ circle punch

Pencil Instructions:

1. Cut or use a paper trimmer to make strips of paper approximately 3.8cm wide and the length of the pencil (doesn’t matter if they are slightly longer). Make sure you take into account if there is a rubber on the end because you don’t want to cover that
2. Position double sided tape in three vertical strips down the paper (right on the edges), remove these first, and then about every 2-3 cms horizontally. You will need a double strip to secure the paper on the pencil at 2cm & 3cm intervals from the top (see picture below) as you will be sharpening it and it needs to be secure
3. Wrap the paper tightly round the pencil and trim off any excess. It should be flush with the top of the pencil. Let the pencil sit for an hour or more
4. Now it is time to sharpen it! You will need to use a sharpener that is for bigger pencils as the paper makes it thicker than normal. The rotary action pencil sharpeners work very well

1. For 3 pencils, make a rectangle the width of an A4 sheet by 9.4cm high
2. Score the paper at 3.5cm and 7.7cm
3. Make a hole using a 1 1/4 “ circle punch in the middle, and a ‘half-circle’ hole at one end in the centre using a 1 1/2” circle punch (If you don’t have suitable circle punches, you could cut holes using a craft knife)
4. Tape down one side and along the bottom and form the pocket
